Residents of Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, were thrown into a state of panic and confusion on Tuesday as hoodlums and Police clashed few weeks after the #EndSARS protest was hijacked.
Activities at the popular Apapa-Oshodi expressway and some parts of the Amuwo Odofin Local Government were particularly paralysed when hundreds of commercial motorcycle operators popularly called Okada riders and hoodlums reportedly attacked Nigerian Police officers and Lagos Task Force officials.
The officials have earlier been accused of compounding motorcycles belonging to some of them.
The riot said to have started at about 12:15 pm on Tuesday forced many commuters to trek long distances, under the scorching sun, to their different destinations.
Thos came after the rioters took over the road and prevented vehicular movement.
